Abdul A. Alliu

Abdul Alliu and his family live in Dallas, Texas. He was born and raised in Nigeria and moved to the United States in 1991 to pursue his dreams of becoming an airline pilot. His flying career has taken him across all continents of the world, flying different airplanes—B727, B707, B757, B767, and B747-400/-8. He is currently a Captain with Atlas Air, based at JFK airport in New York. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Physics from the University of Ibadan in Nigeria in 1990. In 2011, he obtained his MBA in Aviation Management from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Florida. He was admitted into the PhD in Aviation program at Saint Louis University in the Fall of 2014 and looks forward to graduating in the fall of 2018.


Abdul’s areas of research involve aviation safety and policy. His dissertation research is titled: “Public Policy and Aviation Safety in Africa: Nigeria as a Case Study.”
