Tom Ellery is a Ph.D. student in the Department of Aviation Science at Saint Louis University. He received his B.S. in Aviation Management from Utah Valley University in 2012, and his M.S. in Aviation Technology from Purdue University in 2014. Tom has been an entrepreneur in the San Diego community since his honorable discharge from the U.S. Army in 1992. His business ventures include several construction related businesses dealing with home improvements, as well as being an owner/operator of a light sport aircraft training, sales, and maintenance facility with his father Mike. Tom has four amazing children Ashley, Austin, Mitchell, and Braeden, who realize his intense passion for aviation and have been very supportive during the last four years of his academic journey.

Tom is focused on research activities in general aviation, primarily those areas related to human factors. His eventually goal is to continue working on general aviation accident mitigation by identifying problems, bringing awareness, and finding solutions to areas that are of concern. He is currently working on developing a non-profit general aviation website that will be a valuable go-to for general aviation enthusiasts for up-to-date safety information.
