Meet Our Students

Mozhdeh Imani nezhad

Advisor/Mentor: Silviya Zustiak
Sponsor/Grant: Parks College
Program Start: Fall 2014

Mozhdeh Imaninezhad joined the Biomedical Engineering Department as a Ph.D. student in August 2014. She obtained a MS degree in Mechanical Engineering from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, IL in 2014, and a BS degree in Materials Science and Engineering from Isfahan University of Technology, Isfahan, Iran in 2012. During her MS studies under the guidance of Dr. Jeff Darabi, Mozhdeh developed a biosensor to detect the high acetone level in diabetics’ patient breath. When she joined Saint Louis University, she developed a novel method to incorporate CNTs onto hydrogel with the goal of eliciting directed neurite outgrowth.

Currently, Mozhdeh is a Ph.D. Candidate with an interest in neural tissue engineering and nerve regeneration. Her research interests are focused on engineering biomaterials that can mimic or stimulate native tissue function. The developed biomaterials will promote self-repairing of damages axonal connection and lead to functional recovery after neural injury.
