Meet Our Students

Roberto E. Reynolds

Advisor/Mentor: Chris Carroll
Sponsor/Grant: Parks College
Program Start: Fall 2016

Originally from Puerto Rico, Roberto moved to St. Louis to pursue his undergraduate degree in civil engineering from Saint Louis University during the 2012-2013 school year. He liked St. Louis so much he decided to stay here at SLU for my masters in civil engineering. His girlfriend has also turned him into a St. Louis sports fan especially Blues hockey which is a sport they do not have in Puerto Rico.

Roberto’s research is based on the behavior of Concrete Masonry Unit (CMU) blocks. Along with his mentor, he will be testing four different types of grout to fill the holes of the blocks and then test them in shear and flexure to see how they behave. They are doing this in hopes of one day building better masonry houses for under-developed countries such as Haiti, which will be better suited to withstand earthquake and natural disasters.
