Trevor A. Smith

Advisor/Mentor: Jenna Gorlewicz
Sponsor/Grant: Graduate Education @ SLU
Program Start: Fall 2015

Trevor grew up in Edwardsville, IL and graduated with a B.S. in physics from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE). After deciding not to pursue a career in physics, he began pursuing a M.S. in mechanical engineering at SIUE and eventually transferred with his advisor, Dr. Jenna Gorlewicz, to Saint Louis University to continue his research here. He enjoys running and weight-lifting, and is an avid PC gamer, having built several high-performance computers.

Trevor research area is Surface Haptics - an area of research that focuses on generating tactile sensations and simulating textures on flat surfaces such as touchscreens. Smith is currently designing a touchscreen device that utilizes two unique texture-generation schemes in an effort to understand their interplay.
