Alumni, former faculty and others from the Parks Community have donated to support students in engineering and aviation programs.

ANNUAL AWARDS

Applications are now being accepted for the 2016-2017 academic year. All admitted Parks College students may apply.  Applications should be submitted in the Scholarship Suite tool on your Tools tab at www.myslu.edu.  All auto-match listed scholarships will update applications for qualified students once the Parks College Leadership Application is complete with the resume and letter of recommendation requirement. Those that require the leadership essay for the auto-match are stated below as well. All other scholarships should show on your “Recommended” list once you complete the Leadership application. Since this is a new system, please contact Christine Hoffmann at hoffmanncw@slu.edu with questions. The application deadline is 11:59 p.m. on April 8.

  • Adele Dunne Civil Engineering Scholarship

    $3,000
    Thomas P. Dunne Sr., in honor of his mother, has chosen to create a scholarship to benefit a student pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering at Parks College of Engineering, Aviation and Technology. Preference will be given to a female sophomore, junior or senior.

  • BSI Constructors/ Joseph F. Shaughnessy, BSCE 1957 Term Scholarship
    Number of awards: 3
    Award Amount each: varies
    This scholarship is to support the Civil Engineering program at Parks College of Engineering, Aviation and Technology, and is open only to US citizens.  Students should be a sophomore, junior, or senior with a 3.2 cumulative GPA or higher.  This scholarship requires an essay on leadership and participation in student and professional organizations. This scholarship should not be used to complete 100% of tuition costs, so should not go to students who already receive the presidential or provost scholarships from SLU financial aid.  Students eligible for tuition remission are not eligible for this scholarship.  By supporting its students, SLU alumni and BSI Chairman Joseph Shaughnessy will help to assist in developing this program into the best Civil Engineering program in the Midwest.

  • Donald and Nora Manahan Scholarship and Research Fund

    Award Amount each:
    $9,000
    This scholarship provides financial assistance to junior, senior or graduate students pursuing a degree in engineering or technology at Parks College, fostering an environment of interdisciplinary teamwork through support of student projects and collaborative student-faculty research.  Applicants must be in an engineering major with a 3.3 minimum GPA.  No FAFSA is required as financial need is not a consideration. An essay on leadership and participation in student and professional organizations is required.  This scholarship can pay for tuition, room and board, meal plans, fees and/or books.  This scholarship can also pay for graduate level research projects.  In addition to the leadership essay, graduate students can choose to submit a research plan to be considered for award.  US and international students qualify for this scholarship.

  • Dr. Bellur L. Nagabhushan Undergraduate Scholarship in Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering

    Award Amount each: $1,500
    The family of Dr. Bellur Nagabubhushan has established this scholarship to assist a junior or senior student in the Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering department.  An essay on leadership is required with the resume and letter of recommendation.

  • Dr. Cecil Thomas Biomedical Engineering Scholarship

    Award Amount each: $1,000
    Eligible applicants will be sophomores, juniors or seniors attending Parks College and majoring in Biomedical Engineering.  Students must have at least a 3.0 GPA.  Applicants must be a champion of diversity and have made an impact on society beyond the classroom.  Preference will be given to student(s) who are considered underrepresented in engineering.

  • Fabick CAT Aviation Science Scholarship

    Eligible applicants will enrolled in the Aviation Science program at Parks College of Engineering, Aviation and Science, with a preference for flight students.  Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 2.5 and show financial need.  This scholarship is renewable with reapplication and can cover flight fees as well as tuition.

  • Frank and Bernice Magiera Scholarship

    Award Amount each: $4,000
    Applicants must be a sophomore, junior or senior (fall 2016) in an engineering program at Parks College of Engineering, Aviation and Technology with a minimum GPA of 3.0. Applicants must demonstrate a history of leadership activities and involvement in student or professional organizations.

  • Fred Weber Inc. Civil Engineering Scholarship

    Award Amount each:
    $2,500
    Fred Weber, Inc. has chosen to establish a named scholarship to benefit a male and a  female student pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering at Parks College of Engineering, Aviation and Technology. This scholarship is to be awarded evenly between one female and one male student per academic year.

  • Gerald E. Dreifke Engineering Scholarship

    Gerald E. Dreifke was the Institute of Technology Department of Electrical Engineering Department Head until the school’s closure in 1971.  The Institute of Technology engineering alumni have expressed a desire to honor one of their favorite faculty members. This scholarship is available to all full-time engineering students with at least 12 SLU credit hours who have a minimum GPA of 2.8. This scholarship is available to US and international students.

  • Greatert St. Louis Business Aviation Association (GSLBAA) Scholarship

    GSLBAA has chosen to create this scholarship to benefit a US Citizen who is studying Flight Science or Aviation Management at Parks College of Engineering, Aviation and Technology. Students may be undergraduate students with a minimum GPA of 2.5 and have a FAFSA on file with the Student Financial Services office. Graduate students must be majoring in Advanced Pilot Qualifications, Flight Operations Mgmt, or Safety Mgmt Systems. Applicants must submit an essay on their interest in an aviation career. Recipients are asked to attend an awards luncheon at the June golf tournament to acknowledge the gift.

  • Institute of Technology Civil Engineering Scholarship

    Available to undergraduate students who are studying engineering at Parks College of Engineering, Aviation and Technology.  Student must have filed their FAFSA with Student Financial Services, be in good standing and have a minimum GPA of 3.0.  Preference will be given to civil engineering students showing financial need.

    All undergraduate students at Parks College of Engineering, Aviation, and Technology with a minimum GPA of 2.5 qualify for this scholarship. Applicants should demonstrate leadership and involvement in activities in student or professional organizations.

    Parks College students enrolled in an engineering program with a minimum GPA of 3.0 qualify for this scholarship. Student must demonstrate financial need. Preference will be given to civil engineering students. An essay on leadership is required with the resume and letter of recommendation.

  • James Sebesta S.J. Flight Fee Scholarship

    Award Amount each:
    $3,500
    Father James Sebesta started flying when he was fourteen. He entered the priesthood in 1958 and joined Saint Louis University and Parks College in 1994. In 2012 he chose to use the proceeds from the sale of his airplane to provide a scholarship to help students become pilots. Qualified applicants must be a sophomore, junior or senior (fall 2016) enrolled in the Flight Science program at Parks College of Engineering, Aviation and Technology.

  • John and Mary Ann Capellupo Scholarship

    Award Amount each:
    $2,500
    John and Mary Ann Capellupo (IT’56) established this scholarship to help U.S. students pursuing a degree at Parks College who are also active members of St. Louis University’s NCAA Division 1 athletics program. This scholarship will help promote the development of the mind and body, a healthy balance that will serve students well as they prepare for careers in a dynamic and demanding global community. An essay on leadership is required with the resume and letter of recommendation. Preference will be given to students entering their junior year in the fall.

  • John O’Neill Lab Fee Scholarship

    Award Amount each: $2,000
    All undergraduate students taking Electrical Engineering at Parks College of Engineering, Aviation and Technology with a minimum GPA of 3.0 qualify for this scholarship. Preference will be given for financial need. This scholarship can pay for lab and technology fees.

  • John R. Manzo Electrical and Computer Engineering Scholarship

    $1,500
    All US and International students majoring in Electrical or Computer engineering at Parks College of Engineering, Aviation and Technology qualify for this scholarship. Students must have a minimum of 60 credit hours and may be transfer students. Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and submit an essay demonstrating technology leadership.

  • Keavy Nenninger Flight Fee and Tuition Scholarship

    $3,000
    This scholarship will support students studying Aviation Science or Aerospace Engineering at Parks College of Engineering, Aviation and Technology. Students must be a sophomore, junior or senior in the fall. GPA is not a consideration but applicant must not be on academic probation. A statement describing financial need is required, as well as a statement describing the students ability to imbue others to live a full and free life.

  • Kwame Building Group Scholarship

    This scholarship was established to support a transfer student from Harris-Stowe State University who wished to further his or her education at Parks College of Engineering, Aviation and Technology at Saint Louis University. Student must have a FAFSA on file with Student Financial Services at SLU and must have a minimum GPA of 3.0. This scholarship is renewable with reapplication.

    This scholarship was created to benefit a senior or graduate level student at Parks College of Engineering, Aviation and Technology. The applicant may be a US or international student with a minimum GPA of 3.0. An essay on leadership is required with the resume and letter of recommendation.

  • Mark George Bouckaert Memorial Scholarship

    George and Phyllis Bouckaert established this scholarship in honor of their son to benefit a Parks College student. Applicants should be seniors (fall 2016) in an engineering program. Financial need and GPA are not a consideration for this scholarship. An essay on leadership is required with the resume and letter of recommendation. Preference will be given to students in Mechanical, Electrical or Biomedical engineering majors.

  • Parks College Alumni Association Scholarship

    Available to full-time sophomores, juniors or seniors enrolled at Parks College. Students must have completed their previous year at Parks College and have a FAFSA on record with Student Financial Services as of April 15th. Students must be active in a student, professional or community organization. Preference will be given to relatives of Parks Alumni.

    This fund was established to help Parks College students with the cost of purchasing or renting books for classes. The deans office will provide the recipient(s) with the award check at the beginning of the fall semester. Students must be a junior, senior or graduate student in the fall and have a FAFSA on file with Student Financial services.

    For US and International Graduate Students with a minimum GPA of 3.3. Must have applied for aid through Student Financial Services. Students must submit a cv, letter of recommendation and an essay or your research topic. Scholarships are available for renewal with reapplication.

    All US military and veterans studying for an undergraduate degree at Parks College of Engineering, Aviation, and Technology are eligible for this scholarship. Freshmen will be given preference.

  • Patrick P. Lee Foundation Scholarship
    Number of awards: 10
    Award Amount each: $20,000
    Applicants must be enrolled in an engineering curriculum at Parks College with a minimum 2.8 GPA. They must qualify as juniors or seniors in the fall semester in order to qualify for this scholarship. Students must have no issues with the Universities Office of Student Responsibility. The essay for this scholarship is “Why I Choose to be an Engineer”. The recipient is expected to provide a picture and  thank you note in the fall and a self appraisal at the end of the scholarship year, as well as any other special requests made by the stewardship office.

    Alumnus Patrick P. Lee created his foundation from the successful sale of his company to promote education of the engineering mindset and assist in continuing successful manufacturing endeavors within the U.S. Mr. Lee feels his success should be shared by giving to students who are educated both in their chosen field as well as in the ethics and traditions of Saint Louis Universities Jesuit mission of service to others. The foundation seeks to support those students who fail to find other financial aid because they fall in the middle both financially and academically. This award can cover tuition, fees, room and board, books and supplies (excluding computers but including computer programs).

    This scholarship is for all students at Parks College with a minimum GPA of 3.0 who demonstrate a financial need. *All undergraduate with at least 15 SLU credit hours and graduate students may apply. * Special consideration will be given to students with extenuating financial circumstances.

  • Royal Bondie Jr. Undergraduate Scholarship in Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering

    This scholarship was established by the family of Royal Bondie, Jr., a longtime professor of aerospace and mechanical engineering at Parks College, to support students in the majors he taught. This scholarship is available to US and International students in the Aerospace Engineering or Mechanical Engineering majors at Parks College. Student must be a sophomore, junior, or senior (fall 2016) with a 2.8 minimum GPA. Applicants should submit an essay describing their leadership and participation at Parks College.

    Fred Weber, Inc. has chosen to establish an endowed scholarship to honor the leadership and commitment of Thomas P. Dunne, Sr.  Mr. Dunne joined Frew Weber as a field engineer and has served as chairman and CEO since 1986. During Dunne’s tenure, Fred Weber has earned numerous recognitions, played a vital role in some of St. Louis’ most significant construction projects and become an integral part of the community.

    With the cost of education rising, some students do not have the family support to achieve their educational goals and dreams. These students are consistently searching for ways to work, support themselves and pay their tuition, fees and books. If they cannot achieve this, their grades often suffer. Therefore, without assistance, they usually attain a few years of college but then eventually drop out due to lack of funding. This scholarship seeks to alleviate some of that financial burden.
