Alumni, former faculty and others from the Parks Community have donated to support students in engineering and aviation programs.

ANNUAL AWARDS

Patrick P. Lee Foundation Term Scholarship Fund

Two awards of $25,000 ($12,500 per semester)

  • Academic standing - Students must be a 60+ credit hour, junior or senior at Parks College of Engineering, Aviation and Technology.  Funds are to be used only for tuition, fees, room and board, books and supplies.
  • Applicant must be majoring in an engineering academic program at Parks College, with an overall GPA of 3.0 or above.
  • Financial Aid will not be considered in awarding this scholarship.
  • Stackable scholarship, however the funding should not be more than the total cost of tuition, fees, room and board and books and supplies.
  • The scholarship is renewable; upon maintenance of 3.0 GPA, full time status and course work of study must be completed in four years.

                   - If applicant is a Junior: applicant to include a self-appraisal report between the junior and senior year listing
                     accomplishments from the junior year and goals for the senior year.
                   - If applicant is a Senior: applicant to include a self-appraisal report, at the end of the school year, listing
                     accomplishments and future goals.

  • Applicant must include an essay of 500 words, addressing why they chose to become an engineer.
  • Applicant must submit a resume that includes: academic achievement with GPA; past work experience; extracurricular activities and achievements (to include all University and College level student group involvement) and any professional organization memberships.
  • One letter of recommendation is required with application.

Dr. Bellur L. Nagabhushan Endowed Undergraduate Scholarship

The fund honors Dr. Bellur Nagbhushan, a longtime professor of Aerospace Engineering, and a parent of a SLU student.

One award – approximate amount – $1,200.00

  • Academic standing – Junior or Senior undergraduate student in Aerospace Engineering with an undergraduate minimum GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale.
  • Applicant must have completed a Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for the current academic year.  Preference will be given to students demonstrating a financial need.
  • Applicants should include an essay that demonstrates his/her involvement as described in the following:
  • Leadership at Parks College through exceptional understanding and application of course studies and a commitment to individual learning and teamwork.
  • History of activities and involvement in student or professional organizations at Parks College and Saint Louis University.
  • Applicant must submit a resume that includes: academic achievement with GPA; past work experience; extracurricular activities and achievements (to include all University and College level student group involvement) and any professional organization memberships.
  • One letter of recommendation is required with application.

 

Mark George Bouckaert Memorial Scholarship

One award – approximate amount $1,000.00

  • Academic standing – Senior majoring in Mechanical, Electrical or Biomedical Engineering at Parks College. There is not a minimum grade point average for this scholarship.
  • Financial need is not a requirement for this scholarship.
  • Applicants should include an essay that demonstrates his/her involvement as described in the following:
  • Leadership at Parks College and a commitment to individual learning and teamwork
  • History of participation in community service, as well as, a history of activities and involvement in student or professional organizations at Parks College and Saint Louis University. Please include information on internships or work experience.
  • Applicant must submit a resume that includes: academic achievement with GPA; past work experience; extracurricular activities and achievements (to include all University and College level student group involvement) and any professional organization memberships.
  • One letter of recommendation is required application.

 

John R. Manzo Parks ‘65 Electrical and Computer Engineering Leadership Scholarship

One award – approximate amount $1,000.00

  • Academic standing – Junior or Senior majoring in Electrical and Computer Engineering.  Applicant must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.  Applicant must have 60 credit hours earned at or transferred into Parks College.
  • Applicant must submit a one-page essay entitled:  My Technology Leadership in Electrical/Electronics or Computer Engineering. Please address one or more of the following in your essay: 1) innovative development concepts or techniques in software architecture; 2) advances in computer architecture; 3) advances in the management of the software or computer development process.
  • Applicants must also submit a resume that includes: a history of activities and involvement in student or professional organizations at Parks College and Saint Louis University; academic achievement with GPA; past work experience; extracurricular activities and achievements (to include all University and College level student group involvement) and any professional organization memberships.
  • One letter of recommendation is required with application.

 

Parks College Book Fund

Two awards – approximate $250.00 each

  • Academic standing – Junior, Senior or Graduate student at Parks College.
  • Applicant must have submitted a FASFA form for student financial aid this year and it must be on file with SLU Financial Aid Department.
  • Applicant must submit a resume that includes: academic achievement with GPA; past work experience; extracurricular activities and achievements (to include all University and College level student group involvement) and any professional organization memberships.

 

Roland Quest Memorial Scholarship Fund

One award – approximate amount $2,000.00

  • Academic standing – Sophomore, Junior, Senior who is majoring in one of the academic programs at Parks College.  Must have a minimum of a 3.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale.
  • Applicant must have submitted a FASFA form for student financial aid this year and it must be on file with SLU Financial Aid Department. (FINANCIAL NEED 2nd CONSIDERATION)
  • Applicant must submit a resume that includes: academic achievement with GPA; past work experience; extracurricular activities and achievements (to include all University and College level student group involvement) and any professional organization memberships.
  • One letter of recommendation is required with application.

 

Malcolm and Elizabeth Jacobs Scholarship

One award – approximate amount $2,000.00

  • Academic standing – Senior or Graduate Student pursuing a degree at Parks College.  Must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
  • Applicants should include an essay that demonstrates his/her involvement as described in the following:
  • Leadership at Parks College through exceptional understanding and application of course studies and a commitment to individual learning and teamwork.
  • History of participation in community service, as well as, a history of activities and involvement in student or professional organizations at Parks College and Saint Louis University.
  • Applicant must submit a resume that includes: academic achievement with GPA; past work experience; extracurricular activities and achievements (to include all University and College level student group involvement) and any professional organization memberships.
  • One letter of recommendation is required with application.

 

Donald and Nora Manahan Scholarship and Research Fund

This award is either for Scholarship-tuition or a Research Project. Please make clear on your application which you are applying for.

One award – approximate amount $7,000.00

  • Academic standing – Junior, Senior or Graduate Student enrolled at Parks College.  Preference will be given to students majoring in any one of the engineering programs.  Applicant must have cumulative GPA of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale.
  • Financial need is not a requirement for this scholarship.
  • Renewable, a student may receive the scholarship, project or research award more than once upon reapplication.
  • Applicants should include an essay that demonstrates his/her involvement as described in the following:
  • Leadership at Parks College and a commitment to individual learning and teamwork.
  • History of participation in community service, as well as, a history of activities and involvement in student or professional organizations at Parks College and Saint Louis University.
  • Applicant must submit a resume that includes: academic achievement with GPA; past work experience; extracurricular activities and achievements (to include all University and College level student group involvement) and any professional organization memberships.
  • One letter of recommendations is required with application.

OR 

PROJECT and RESEARCH REQUIREMENTS

  • Applicant must meet the requirements for the scholarship as listed in the above 6 bullet points.
  • Applicant must submit a description of the scope and timeline for the proposed project/research.
  • Applicant must submit an explanation of the potential public benefit from the project/research and a proposed budget.

 

Jack R. and Mary D. Weber Scholarship at Parks College

One award – approximate amount $1,200.00

  • Academic standing –Junior or Senior who is majoring in one of the academic programs at Parks College.  No minimum GPA required.
  • Applicant must have completed a Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for the current academic year.  Preference will be given to students demonstrating a financial need.
  • Applicants should include an essay that demonstrates his/her involvement as described in the following:
  • Leadership at Parks College and a commitment to individual learning and teamwork.
  • History of participation in community service, as well as, a history of activities and involvement in student or professional organizations at Parks College and Saint Louis University.
  • Applicant must submit a resume that includes: academic achievement with GPA; past work experience; extracurricular activities and achievements (to include all University and College level student group involvement) and any professional organization memberships.
  • One letter of recommendation is required with application.

 

Peter Jackalus Term Scholarship

Four awards of $5,000.00

  • Academic standing – Undergraduate or graduate student pursuing a degree in Engineering, Aviation or related technologies at Parks College.  All sophomore, junior, senior students or graduates students are eligible.
  • Applicant must have completed a Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for the current academic year.  Special consideration will be given to students with extenuating financial circumstances.
  • Applicant must have a 3.0 cumulative GPA or higher on a 4.0 scale and the scholarship recipients must maintain a semester GPA of 3.2.
  • Applicants should include a 500 word essay explaining need.
  • Applicant must submit a resume that includes: academic achievement with GPA; past work experience; extracurricular activities and achievements (to include all University and College level student group involvement) and any professional organization memberships.
  • One letter of recommendation from a Parks College faculty member is required with application.

 

Parks College Graduate Fellowship

One award of $20,000.00

  • Academic standing – Graduate student pursuing a degree in Engineering, Aviation or related technologies at Parks College.
  • Applicant must have completed a Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for the current academic year.
  • Applicant must have a 3.3 cumulative GPA or higher on a 4.0 scale.
  • Applicants should include an essay that demonstrates his/her involvement as described in the following:
  • History of activities and involvement in student or professional organizations.
  • Applicant must submit a resume that includes: academic achievement with GPA; past work experience; extracurricular activities and achievements (to include all University and College level student group involvement) and any professional organization memberships.
  • One letter of recommendation is required with application.

 

BSI Constructors/Joseph F. Shaughnessy, BSCE 1957, Term Scholarship

Three awards of $3,500.00

  • Academic standing - Students must be a sophomore, junior or senior Civil Engineering student, with an overall GPA of 3.2 or above.  No presidential, provost or Dean Scholars may apply for this scholarship.
  • Applicant cannot use this scholarship to complete 100% of tuition costs.  Financial need is not a requirement for this scholarship.  
  • The scholarship is renewable; however, students will be required to resubmit their application yearly.   (Year 1 = $3,500, Year 2 = $2,750, Year 3 = $2,250)
  • Applicants should include an essay that demonstrates his/her involvement as described in the following:

¨     History of activities and involvement in student or professional organizations.

  • Applicant must submit a resume that includes: academic achievement with GPA; past work experience; extracurricular activities and achievements (to include all University and College level student group involvement) and any professional organization memberships. 
  • One letter of recommendation is required with application.



Greater St. Louis Business Aviation Association Term Scholarship

One award of $2,000.00

  • Academic standingUndergraduate pursing a degree at Parks College of Engineering, Aviation and Technology, majoring in Flight Science, Aviation Management or Graduate student majoring in Airline Transport Pilot Advance Qualification, Flight Operations Management or Safety Management Systems.  Student must have a current 2.5 minimum GPA.
  • Applicant must have submitted a FASFA form for student financial aid this year and it must be on file with SLU Financial Aid Department. (FINANCIAL NEED 2nd CONSIDERATION)
  • Renewable:  A student may receive this scholarship more than once upon reapplication.
  • Applicants should include an essay describing interest in an aviation career.
  • Leadership/Community Service:  GSLBAA expects the recipient to become involved in GSLBAA through an honorary membership.
  • Applicant must submit a resume that includes: academic achievement with GPA; past work experience; extracurricular activities and achievements (to include all University and College level student group involvement) and any professional organization memberships.
  • One letter of recommendation from an Aviation Science faculty member is required with application.

 

James L. Cronin, Jr. Memorial Scholarship

One award – approximate amount $1,500.00

  • Academic standing –Undergraduate pursuing a degree in Engineering at Parks College, preference will be given to Civil Engineering applicant.  Applicant must have a current 3.0 minimum GPA.
  • Applicant must have completed a Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for the current academic year.  Preference will be given to students demonstrating a financial need.
  • Applicants should include an essay that demonstrates his/her involvement as described in the following:
  • Leadership at Parks College and a commitment to individual learning and teamwork.
  • History of participation in community service, as well as, a history of activities and involvement in student or professional organizations at Parks College and Saint Louis University.
  • Applicant must submit a resume that includes: academic achievement with GPA; past work experience; extracurricular activities and achievements (to include all University and College level student group involvement) and any professional organization memberships.
  • One letter of recommendation is required with application.

 

Gerald E. Dreifke Endowed Engineering Scholarship

One award – approximate amount $2,000.00

  • Academic standing –Student must be enrolled in an Engineering degree Parks College.
  • Minimum GPA of 2.8 out of 4.0 scale.
  • Preference will be given to students demonstrating a financial need.
  • Applicants should include an essay that demonstrates his/her financial need.
  • Applicant must submit a resume that includes: academic achievement with GPA; past work experience; extracurricular activities and achievements (to include all University and College level student group involvement) and any professional organization memberships.
  • One letter of recommendation is required with application.

 

William D. Houska, Sr. Endowed Scholarship

One award of $1,000.00

  • Academic standing - Sophomore, junior or senior majoring in Flight Science and/or Aviation Management, with an overall GPA of 3.0 or above.
  • Applicant must have submitted a FASFA form for student financial aid this year and it must be on file with SLU Financial Aid Department. (FINANCIAL NEED 1st CONSIDERATION)
  • Applicants should include an essay which demonstrates his/her leadership, community service and a steadfast commitment to individual learning and teamwork.
  • Applicant must submit a resume that includes: academic achievement with GPA; past work experience; extracurricular activities and achievements (to include all University and College level student group involvement) and any professional organization memberships.
  • One letter of recommendation is required with application.

 

Kwame Building Group, Inc. Scholarship Fund

One award – approximate amount $2,500.00

Student must be working with a SLU Transfer Counselor

  • Academic standing – Graduating Senior with an Associates Degree from Harris-Stowe State University.  Student must be accepted into an academic program at Parks College of Engineering, Aviation and Technology.  Preference will be given a student studying in an engineering curriculum.  Student must have a current 3.0 minimum GPA.
  • Applicant must have completed a Federal Student Aid (FASFA) form for student financial aid this year and it must be on file with SLU Financial Aid Department. (Preference will be given to a student demonstrating a financial need.)
  • Renewable:  A student may receive this scholarship more than once upon reapplication.
  • Applicants should include an essay which demonstrates his/her leadership, community service and a steadfast commitment to individual learning and teamwork.
