Whirling of Shafts Apparatus

The TQ TM1 Whirling of Shaft Apparatus is used to detect instabilities at certain speeds.  Two unique features are incorporated, which allow the shaft to adopt its actual whirling configuration predicted by elastic theory.  The first kinematic coupling located at the driver end of the shaft, preventing the transmission of any restraining forces by the motor to the shaft.  The second feature is a sliding bushed end which affords sliding motion of the shaft.  The apparatus thus allows an accurate analysis of the critical whirling speed for a range of shaft geometry’s, both loaded and unloaded and with different combinations of end condition.

Surface Profilometer

The Dektak3ST is an advanced surface texture measuring system that accurately measures surface texture below submicro-inch and film thickness to 131 microns. The stylus is moved over a surface with an electro-mechanical system coupled with an LVDT. Vibrations caused by the stylus moving over a surface send an electrical signal to an analog to digital converter. The digitized signals are stored in computer memory for display, manipulation, measurement and print.
