Aviation Science Minors
The Department of Aviation Science offers minors for both aviation and non-aviation majors, designed to enhance your educational experience.
Flight Science
The Flight Science Minor is designed for the non-Flight Science Major who is interested in obtaining flight certificates and ratings.The Flight Science Minor consists of 18 credit hours, which includes flight and ground instruction courses. Students will be able to earn a private pilot certificate, an instrument rating and a commercial pilot certificate with single and multi-engine ratings. Enrolling students must possess a Class II FAA Medical Certificate and be able to comply with Transportation Security Administration requirements.
Flight Education
The Flight Education Minor can be used to satisfy part of the Flight Science Major requirements. This will allow a student to earn various flight instructor certificates and ratings and participate in a practicum, in which they train primary flight students under the supervision of an experienced flight instructor. The Minor consists of 16 credit hours.
Air Traffic Control
The Air Traffic Control Minor will allow students to become familiar with air traffic control procedures, giving them a better understanding of the industry. It includes courses in air traffic control tower and radar operations and procedures. The Minor consists of 16 credit hours.
