Why Choose Parks College for an Aviation Degree?
Understand The Unique Aspects Of Attending Parks College For Your Aviation Degree
Saint Louis University’s Parks College of Engineering, Aviation and Technology offers students an aviation degree that extends beyond the traditional flight school experience. All of our concentrations offer the ability to obtain certification as a commercial pilot with a multi-engine endorsement, while interacting within an academic community that’s passionate about flying and all aspects of aviation.
History And Tradition
When you earn an aviation degree from SLU’s Parks College, you’re getting an education that has an unmatched historical legacy. Parks College has been teaching aviation professionals since 1927 and was the first federally recognized flight school in the nation. Whether you’re interested in our flight science concentration or a concentration in aviation management or even an online aviation concentration, students studying here receive an education that is recognized among key aircraft companies and top employers in the airline industry.
Undergraduate Research Opportunities
When you choose Parks College for your aviation degree, you’ll be able to get hands-on research opportunities as an undergraduate that are only available to graduate students at most other universities. The Center for Aviation Safety Research (CASR) is a federally-funded organization that leads groundbreaking research and puts Parks College faculty and students in touch with aviation leaders worldwide.
Smaller Class Sizes
The Parks College aviation degree programs emphasize close relationships and smaller class sizes. The aviation faculty often knows the name of every student studying in the department. These smaller class sizes allow students to be flying only weeks into their freshman year of a flight science degree, and possess a multi-engine commercial license by the end of their junior year.
Educating The Whole Person
Students who attend Parks College for their aviation degree get all the benefits of a traditional flight school in a well-rounded, close-knit university setting. Consistent with the values of a Jesuit education, students are encouraged to pursue a minor in an area other than their primary discipline in order to develop additional skills, which are crucial to achieving a successful career.
Developing Jesuit Ideals
Saint Louis University is proud to be the only Jesuit school offering an aviation degree and flight school. The ideals of ethical decision-making are stressed throughout the undergraduate and graduate programs in order to turn students into leaders in the industry and in their personal lives. Students who graduate here know the technical details that are essential for all aviation professionals, and also get an education that’s proven to develop leaders in the airline industry.
