Project Overview

The goal of this project is to use a confocal microscope to image smooth muscle cell (SMC) and elastin fiber organization in pressurized arteries. It is known that organization of these components contribute to the mechanical properties of the arteries. Previous mechanical tests showed mechanical difference between wild type and Eln+/- (Het) arteries, but the organization of either was still unknown.
