Electrical Engineering Major

Study the technology of electricity, and learn fundamentals of electronic marvels, such as computers, integrated circuits and robotics.

Parks College’s Electrical Engineering Program - Electricity Meets Technology

A degree in electrical engineering from Saint Louis University’s Parks College of Engineering, Aviation and Technology teaches students how to deal with the technology of electricity, specifically in the design and application of circuitry and equipment for power generation and distribution, control systems and communications.

Gain A Solid Foundation With a Major in Electrical Engineering

As a student at SLU’s Parks College pursuing an electrical engineering degree, you will study electricity and learn the fundamentals of the operation and design of modern electronics, including computers, cell phones, robots and communication satellites. You will learn the fundamentals of operation and design of modern electronic marvels such as computers, integrated circuits, software design and robotics.

As a graduate of Saint Louis University, you possess Jesuit-based values needed to be an effective leader. Graduates have the technical proficiencies to meet the specific job responsibilities of electrical engineers, but also have the personal tools to push the new frontiers of technology.

Electrical Engineering Majors Have Access to State-of-the-Art Laboratories

An electrical engineering major at Parks College is expected to spend a great deal of time in our well-equipped laboratories. Throughout the program, classroom experience is continuously complemented with hands-on lab experience as well as small, group-driven projects. Unlike other universities, students begin conducting electrical experiments in the department’s laboratory facilities during their freshman year.

Design experience is well-integrated throughout the four-year electrical engineering program. During a student’s senior year they work as a team on a senior design project, which allows them to do valuable research and develop innovative concepts within their field.

Electrical Engineering Research Experience

Students also have the opportunity to work with faculty on research projects, enhancing their educational experience and preparing them for careers in the electrical engineering industry. This type of undergraduate degree experience is traditionally available to graduate-level students at other universities, but students at Parks College have the chance to participate in published research projects.
