Dr. Habib Rahman received his Ph.D. degree from Syracuse University, New York, in 1984 in Electrical Engineering. Prior to joining Saint Louis University (SLU) in 1984 where he is currently a Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering, he taught electrical engineering at Bangladesh University of Engineering & Technology (BUET) for three years, and at Sulaimania University, Iraq, for one academic year. He served as the Chairman of the Department of Electrical Engineering during the 1991-1999 academic years. He was instrumental in developing the entire course curricula to establish the Electrical Engineering program at Parks, and taught most of the courses encompassing the areas of circuits, electronics, digital design, signals and systems, controls, electromagnetic fields and waves, communication systems, radar and satellite communications. He has extensive academic, administrative and professional service records including successfully handing assessment and ABET matters. His professional memberships include the member of the American Society of Engineering Education (ASEE), senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), and the member of the Electromagnetic Academy.

Professor Rahman has been active in research in the general areas of electromagnetic fields and waves, radar, satellite communications and engineering education, and published, mostly as a sole author, over 30 research papers. His main research focuses in the formulation of a simple and efficient method to treat electromagnetic phenomenon and couplings in cables or wires enclosed in a metallic cavity.

Research Interests

Dr. Rahman’s research interests include Electromagnetic Theory and Applications, Radar System and Satellite Communications and Engineering Education.
