Joseph Simonis has seven years of experience as an applied mathematician working for The Boeing Company in the Geometry and Optimization group. He provides multi-disciplinary analysis and optimization support to numerous internal projects from both the commercial and defense business units. Before working for Boeing, Joseph was a graduate student at Worcester Polytechnic Institute. He spent four summers as an intern at the Computer Science Research Institute of Sandia National Laboratories in Albuquerque, NM. At Sandia Joseph researched globalized Newton-Krylov methods applied to Navier-Stokes problems.

Areas of Research

Mathematician specializing in numerical optimization with a focus on mixed-integer NLPs and multi-objective optimization algorithms. Dr. Simonis’ dissertation was on globalized inexact-Newton methods applied to underdetermined large-scale systems of equations.
