Engineering and Aviation Summer Academy
Discover what it means to be “green” while learning about engineering and aviation and experiencing life on our campus.
About the Academy
The 2013 Engineering and Aviation Summer Academy will focus on sustainability. This year’s Academy took place on June 9-13, 2013. Rising high school seniors participated in the five-day, four-night sessions and learn about the latest technology and career paths in engineering and aviation.
Students worked together to complete a capstone project during the week and on the last day of the Academy, their families were invited to attend a luncheon during which students presented what they learned over the course of the week.
During the Academy, faculty and student mentors also guided students through hands-on activities in:
- aerospace and mechanical engineering

- aviation management
- flight science
- biomedical engineering
- civil engineering
- computer and electrical engineering
- physics
Students also attended an off-campus group outing, take a flight in a Diamond DA-20 airplane and explore Saint Louis University.
