Why I Chose SLU: Urban Environment

I’m from a smaller town, Jefferson City, and wanted a change of pace for college. It’s very rare to find an aviation program at an urban university, so I was really excited when I discovered that SLU offered a flight degree. When I visited campus, my gut instinct told me that this is where I should be.

What I Like About Parks: Family

Everyone at Parks College is so down-to-earth. We make up one big family. It’s a great place to get an education because of that environment and because of all of the opportunities available there. I’m getting such a well-rounded education by majoring in flight science and minoring in English. Many other universities’ flight programs are really just pilot factories, but at SLU, I’m learning how to be a great pilot while also learning about a lot of other things.

It’s also amazing to be part of such a rich history and alumni network. To get my training at the first flight school, where 10 percent of all World War II pilots was trained, is just incredible.

What I Want to Do After Graduation: Flight

I am planning on getting my master’s, then pursuing a flight career at a smaller airline and eventually fly for a major airline. Eventually, I would love to get my Ph.D. and come back to teach at Parks College.
