Engineering and Aviation Summer Academy
High school students can enhance their knowledge of engineering and aviation and experience the college.

About the Academy
The 5 day/4 night 2012 session will be held June 17-21. The goal of the Saint Louis University Engineering and Aviation Summer Academy is to introduce high school juniors to the latest technology and career paths in an exciting and enriching atmosphere. The theme of the 2012 Academy will be grand challenges. Students will complete a team project during the course of the Academy. At the end of the program the student's families are invited to attended a luncheon.
Faculty and student mentors will guide students through modules in aerospace and mechanical engineering, aviation management and flight science, biomedical engineering, civil engineering, computer and electrical engineering and physics. Students will also get to attend a Cardinals baseball game, take a flight in a state-of-the-art aircraft and find out what college life is like at Saint Louis University.
Scholarships and tuition
Tuition is $425 per person and includes activities, housing, meals and a welcome package. 4 full and 2 half scholarships are available.
The campus experience
Students will stay on campus at Saint Louis University during the Academy. Students will be assigned to double dorms rooms. To get a feel for campus life tours will be provided of the engineering and aviation facilities, the Saint Louis University campus and and the Busch Student Center, where students can pick up souvenirs in the book store. Several times during their stay students will get to utilize the Simon Rec Center, which features a rock climbing wall, swimming pool, sand volley ball court and more. Male and female counselors will chaperon the students for the entire duration of the Academy.
Student eligibility
Participation in the Summer Academy is limited to high school students who will graduate in 2013 and currently have a “B” average or better. All application requirements must be met in order to be considered.
