ASME Interest Meeting
September 9, 2010 at 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM
McDonnell Douglas Hall Room 1030
ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers) SLU Chapter is having its interest meeting on Thursday, September 9th at 6PM at McDonald Douglas Room 1030. There will be FREE PIZZA.
ASME stands for American Society of Mechanical Engineers, but is open to all majors at Parks. Just about every major at Parks could benefit from what the groups has to offer. ASME is a national organization that has a lot of benefits. There are many current professionals that are still members today.
The organization plans to have monthly/bi-monthly activities throughout the semester (social and professional development). They also plan to participate with the Saint Louis ASME Section in their activities (this allows students to have a chance to meet professionals). There is also a design project competition that the group may compete in if there is enough interest in from members. Details on that will be given during the first interest meeting.
Three reasons students should join ASME:
- Networking Opportunities, which are very important for your career, will be available. The group will be going on tours of industry and attending social dinners with professionals.
- Participation in the Parks community, so members can meet Parks students that they wouldn’t have otherwise interacted with.
- Great on your resume, since ASME is recognized by professionals!
The ASME SLU chapter has a new website, which contains general information about ASME, as well as an outline of why students should join and also some descriptions with pictures from past events. Just click here to check it out!
If you can’t make the meeting and are still interested in ASME just send an email to email@example.com and he will add you to the email list.
