Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day Activities and Tours

Parks female students are invited to join the SWE women in leading groups of high school girls from area schools through two activity stations. This year’s activities include the Barbie Bungee Jump and the Straw Target Challenge.  The event will be held in McDonnell Douglas Hall from 10:00-12:00 p.m.

Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day is a program designed to raise awareness and interest in engineering careers, particularly among women. Women are one of the most under-represented groups in the engineering industries, making up less than 20% of graduates in the field. This event will allow junior high school students to tour SLU’s state-of-the-art engineering and aviation facilities.

Industry Luncheon

To celebrate women in engineering, Parks will be hosting the 2nd Annual SLU Introduce a Girl to Engineering Luncheon on Thursday, February 24th from 12:00 - 1:30 p.m. at the Busch Student Center. This event gives women in the field of engineering an opportunity to make an impact on current female engineering students and girls from local high schools.  Keynote speaker, Leslie Hoffarth, Director of Forest Park Forever, will be featured.

This year marks the 10th anniversary of Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day on a national level. During this time, women engineers have had the opportunity to inspire over a million girls and women as they have introduced them to engineering. This lunch is a chance to show young ladies how creative and exciting engineering is as an industry.
