Innovation and Design Workshop

On Weds., May 4, 2011 from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m., the SLU ASME Chapter will host an Innovation and Design Workshop. Prof. Jonathan Weaver, Professor and chair of Mechanical Engineering from the University of Detroit Mercy will present an interactive and engaging workshop based around design and innovation. All Parks students who are interested in innovation, design and/or entrepreneurship are invited to attend this event, which will be held in MDH 1016. This ASME & Keen sponsored event will have free JimmyJohns sandwiches (please RSVP).

About the Presenter

Jonathan Weaver, Professor and chair of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Detroit Mercy, teaches a variety of courses – many of them focusing on innovation, creativity, and the product development process. He serves as the co-curriculum director for the Masters in Product Development Program, is a Kern Entrepreneurship Education Network Fellow, and is part of a team currently working to bring entrepreneurship content to engineering and other technical programs at the university.

The Innovation Toolkit

Students can learn to follow a structured ideation process. The workshop provides a clear understanding of de Bono’s six hats and provocation techniques. It also provides an overview of other innovation tools.
