SLU Physics Graduate, Rachel Obajtek, Speaks to Students

physicstalkstoryOn Oct. 7 Rachel Obajtek visited the SLU physics department to speak to the Freshman class about career possibilities for those who earn an undergraduate physics degree. Rachel graduated in 2002 as one of the first recipients of the Physics B.S. degree. She attended physics graduate school at University of Wisconsin, Madison, for a year before making the switch to industry.

In 2004 Rachel began working for The Boeing Company in St. Louis. Rachel has worked on multiple Boeing projects, including AV-8B, Small Diameter Bomb, and F-15 as an avionics integration engineer. Now, Rachel works on integrating electro-optical targeting pods into the F-15 aircraft weapons system. Rachel spoke to the class about the importance of undergraduate internships and work experience in landing a first job.
