The Fundamentals of Engineering Exam (FE Exam) is one of the two exams engineering students must pass in order to be licensed as a Professional Engineer in the United States. The FE exam lasts 8 hours and contains 180 multiple-choice questions and is split into a 4 hour morning session (120 questions) and a 4 hour afternoon session (60 questions) with a 60 minute lunch break. The exam is administered in April and October. The FE exam is the typically the first step in the process leading to the P.E. license. It is designed for students who are close to finishing an undergraduate engineering degree. Saint Louis University is now registered as one of the five sites in Missouri to administer the FE Exam. Saint Louis University Students can now take the FE exam on campus.
