Parks College Students Placed 1st and 3rd at the 2011 AIAA Student Paper Conference

The AIAA Region V Student Conference took place at Iowa State University and at the University of Iowa in Cedar Rapids, Iowa from April 6th to the 9th.  

AIAA student members from colleges and universities across the region attended the conference to present their technical work for public competition.  The AIAA student competition was for both undergraduate and graduate levels.  AIAA members based on technicality, originality and their communication skills judged the students’ formal presentations.  Cash prizes were awarded to the top three winners in both undergraduate and graduate categories.  Winners were also invited to attend the National AIAA Foundation Conference. 

The following students attended the AIAA Student Paper Conference in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on April 6-9th.

All students gave incredible presentations.  The Presentation Titles include:

“Utilization of an Integrating Wake Rake for Profile Drag Measurements”  By: Will Atkins and Ellen Pifer

“Low Cost Hydroclave”  By: John Martin, Dominic Dahlen

“An Integrated Aircraft Design and Performance Prediction Tool” 

Design, Validation, and Demonstration By: Frank Kody

“Advanced Class Aircraft Entry for SAE Aero Design 2011” By: Frank Kody, Tu Vo and Justin Scherbring

 

We had 2 winning papers / presentations at the AIAA Student Conference: 

1st place – Undergraduate Category:
“An Integrated Aircraft Design and Performance Prediction Tool” Design, Validation, and Demonstration By: Frank Kody

3rd place – Team Category:
“Advanced Class Aircraft Entry for SAE Aero Design 2011” By: Frank Kody, Tu Vo and Justin Scherbring

Congratulations to the winners of the conference, Great Job!  All the students provided remarkable presentations and gained a great educational experience at the conference. They had an excellent opportunity to network with other Aerospace students as well as with Industry professionals and teachers.  Parks College students were very successful at the 2011 AIAA Student Paper Conference.
