Parks Students Attend the 2011 ASCE Mid-Continent Regional Student Conference

confnicepicOn Apr. 28-30, 2011, Parks Civil Engineering Club students,Diana Byrne (President), Ryan Hughes (VP), Brad Winkelbauer (Treasurer), Andy Stevens (Steel Bridge Chair) and Becky Mitrovich (Secretary) attended the 2011 ASCE Mid-Continent Regional Student Conference, held at Kansas State University. Several competitions took place, including the Steel Bridge Competition, the Concrete Canoe and the Geo-Tech Competition. The Civil Engineering Club is planning to participate in the Steel Bridge Competition next year so they attended to observe the event and talk to other schools about the competition. Ryan Hughes said, “We learned a lot while we were there.” 

About ASCE Student Conferences

Eighteen ASCE Student Conferences are held every spring, each hosted by an ASCE Student Organization belonging to the Conference.  Most include a business meeting, professional/technical presentations, competitions (surveying, technical paper presentations, concrete canoe, steel bridge), social activities and an awards banquet. Conference information is distributed by the host school to all ASCE Student Organizations belonging to the Conference.
