7th Annual SAHI Conference at Saint Louis University Airs on HEC-TV

St. Louis — Healthcare, travel, and energy - they are all important parts of our daily lives. So how safe are our hospitals, airplanes, trains, and nuclear plants?

Saint Louis University (SLU) hosted a meeting of the safety minds this past spring. HEC-TV captured every minute of it and will show you what concerns and solutions top executives in these industries have when it comes to your safety.

Safety experts in the transportation, healthcare and nuclear power industries came together for the 7th annual Safety Across High-Consequence Industries Conference(SAHI) at SLU to share ideas based on their own tragedies and their own successes.

Some of the panelists and speakers included executives from Boeing, American Airlines, Delta Airlines, SSM Healthcare, The Seattle Children’s Hospital, and Saint Louis University.

Select presentations will air on Saturdays in August at 9pm CDT and Fridays in September at 10pm CDT.

He talks about where the airline industry has been and where it’s going when it comes to your safety.

Sept 14 - Safety Leadership and Ethics

Saint Louis University’s, Manoj Patankar, Ph. D - Vice President of Academic Affairs and Greg Beabout, Ph. D - Associate Professor, Department of Philosophy, address the importance of leadership and ethics at the 7th annual Safety Across High-Consequence Industries Conference (SAHI) at SLU. They say good leadership and ethics lead to a safer world but getting leaders to be completely ethical when running a big business doesn’t always happen.

Sept 21 - Good Work Culture = Safer Work Environments

If you are afraid to tell the boss about safety concerns then everyone is at risk. That’s the message from Edwin Sabin, Ph. D - Director of the Center for the Application of Behavioral Sciences, Saint Louis University, Thomas Bigda-Peyton - President, Center for Adaptive Solutions, and Thomas P. Judge - Executive Director, LifeFlight Maine. They share examples of what happened when front-line employees were discouraged from sharing safety concerns and what a difference it makes when employees are encouraged to blow the whistle.
