Civil Engineering Students Continue Research on Mitigation of Bridge Deck Cracking

Mitigation of bridge deck cracking is a research project sponsored by the Illinois Department of Transpiration and in collaboration with the University of Illinois. The structural testing and analytical phases are being conducted at Saint Louis University by a team lead by Riyadh Hindi, Ph.D., P.E., associate professor of Civil Engineering at Parks College of Engineering, Aviation and Technology. The project compares different concrete mixes to computer modeling in order to mitigate concrete cracks in bridge decks.
Parks College civil engineering graduate and undergraduate students have been participating in conducting the structural phase of this research project with Dr. Hindi. Just last week, students facilitated a concrete pour of a bridge model in one of the labs at SLU.
