Students Place 1st, 2nd and 3rd at TEAM Fair

Ten civil engineering students attended the Transportation Engineering Association of Metropolitan (TEAM) St. Louis Fair last Thursday, September 27. The goals of TEAM is to further traffic and transportation knowledge, stimulate professional development, and develop cooperation among its members for the betterment of traffic and transportation in the St. Louis metropolitan area.
Three Civil Engineering graduate and undergraduate students from the Smart Transportation Lab presented their posters in the First Annual Student Research Poster Competition and all three students placed:
- First Prize: Shu Yang, “GIS-based Spatio-Temporal Accident Analysis in St. Louis”
- Second Prize: Sijia Lu and Shu Yang “Cost Estimation of Traffic Accidents in St. Louis using Geographic Information Systems”
- Third Prize: Greg Bouche “Investigation of Key Contributing Factors in Vehicle Crashes in St. Louis: Weather, Lighting, Roadway Characteristics, Pavement, and Traffic Control”
The fair is the largest professional transportation conference in the St. Louis area (roughly 200 transportation professionals attended). Yao-Jan Wu, Ph.D., advised all three students this past summer.
