Weekly Innovation Challenge takes on Ritenour High School

Weekly Innovation Challenge at Ritenour high schoolOn Tuesday, November 6, six Parks College of Engineering, Aviation and Technology students from the Kern Entrepreneurship Education Network (KEEN) program brought the Weekly Innovation Challenge to Ritenour High School.

Over 100 students enrolled in Project Lead the Way engineering courses participated in three challenges which focused on teamwork, communication and creative skills. The three challenges included the Spaghetti Challenge: build the tallest structure out of spaghetti sticks, the Raft Challenge: design and construct a raft that holds an item and travels 2.5 feet and the Queen Bee Challenge: build the tallest tower with the materials given while one teammate, the queen bee, is blindfolded.

Ritenour is the first high school to host the Weekly Innovation Challenge which is part of the initiative outreach program sponsored by KEEN.
