Civil Engineering Student Gloria Campbell Honored at 2017 Spirit of the Billiken Awards Ceremony

Senior Civil Engineering student Gloria Campbell was recognized with other outstanding seniors from across Saint Louis University at the 2017 Spirit of the Billiken Awards Ceremony held Saturday, March 4, in the Sinquefield Stateroom in DuBourg Hall.

In honor of the 1818 founding of Saint Louis University, the Office of Alumni Engagement established the Spirit of the Billiken Award that recognizes 18 senior students who are committed to being proud and dedicated alumni of Saint Louis University.

In front of their families and friends, the honorees gave speeches and thanked their faculty and staff mentors.

Students presented with the Spirit of the Billiken Award represent what it means to be a Billiken, and excel in the following areas: academics, leadership, community service, commitment to Saint Louis University and dedication to “living the mission” after graduation. The Spirit of the Billiken Class of 2017 recognized by the Office of Alumni Engagement includes:

  • Colleen Carroll of Rocky River, Ohio (School of Nursing)
  • Michael Degnan of Naperville, Illinois (College for Public Health and Social Justice)

  • Andrea Gabaldon of Roeland Park, Kansas (College for Public Health and Social Justice)
  • Mikel Green of Jacksonville, Florida (College of Arts and Sciences – SLU Madrid)
  • Betty Goodwin of Des Peres, Missouri (School of Education)
  • Max Hammond of Evergreen, Colorado (College of Arts and Sciences)
  • Audrey Hunter of La Quinta, California (Doisy College of Health Sciences)

Working with officials from the SLU Madrid campus, the Office of Alumni Engagement will also be recognizing honoree Mikel Green and his mentor, Marjory Hutchison.
